I was having a discussion with a friend last night about how we are saved by grace and if we repent from our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us. But it just didn't seem right for a carnal Christian and a radical Christian to both enjoy the rewards in heaven when they die. I couldn't comprehend how a sinner can be saved on his dying bed, after a lifetime of sinful deeds and still share in the same rewards as one who has been living right from day one. So I was just trying to draw a line btn the two...thats when I stumbled upon this scripture which lead me to write this piece. I hope you find wisdom in it and do share with another.

Matt 6:19-20
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Where are you storing up your treasures? Where is your heart? Is it in things of this world? Remember you will die and leave everything behind. What you will inherit will be the treasures you stored in heaven! Focus on doing God's will and obeying His commands, thats the only way you can store treasures in Heaven.

We all have a treasure chests in heaven (savings account). The moment you give your life to Christ, a savings account is opened for you in heaven. And every time you kill your flesh or do God's work, you saving in that account. Depending on your level of commitment to the kingdom work, you could be storing dollars, pounds, euro, cedis or maybe coins in your account. The more you commit to doing God's work, the higher the value of the currency (treasures) you store in your chest. The less of kingdom business you do, well, the less the value of the currency you save in your heaven account. eg. the more you abstain from doing evil, the more you spread the gospel, the more treasure you store up in heaven. The more you focus on your work, your career, your family...the less you store treasure in heaven.

Oneday after we've all made it to heaven, your works (treasures) will be tested. (1 Corinthians 3:11-15). What will be the value in your treasure chest? Will it be coins and cedis or will it be pounds and dollars??? Your reward awaits you in heaven...keep being faithful to Jesus and His word. Even though it may be very difficult. Remember that the more difficult it is...the higher the currency value...so don't loose hope...keep pushing and remember that you are storing up treasures in heaven as you diligently seek after God and when we all stand before God's thrown in Heaven...you will be laughing all the way to the bank whilst those who fell for every small temptation will be holding their heads down in shame.

Keep pressing on, Child of God. You labor not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58)
